(Tele) Therapy Services
I am dedicated to helping those in significant and severe distress, and am particularly specialized in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma disorders. I am also highly experienced with working in situations when the distress involves suicidal thoughts and behaviors, relational difficulties, sleep problems, or substance use. All of my therapy services are provided through secure video telebehavioral health, and are limited to outpatient individual adult therapy.
I work with people who describe all different levels of problem severity, from something that is new and just a little worrisome, to something that is serious and you've been coping with for a long time. Wherever you may be, I am confident that we can match appropriate therapy goals to your needs and make the right level of change that you are looking for.
I am trained in various "Third Wave" Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, including the following:
I practice an integrated approach drawing from each of these therapy modalities to work with you to directly confront problems and make real, behavioral changes in your life.
If you are struggling with any of the below problems, please consider learning more...and reaching out for help.
Depression
Depression makes people feel little interest or pleasure in doing things that they used to enjoy. It is described as feeling down, depressed, or hopeless for more days than not, and these feelings last continuously for weeks. People who have depression may also notice changes in their sleep, appetite, or ability to focus on things...
Anxiety
Anxiety makes people feel nervous, frightened, worried, or on edge. It can cause panic attacks, and often leads people to avoid situations. Some people describe unwanted urges, or images that repeatedly enter their mind, and they may feel driven to perform certain behaviors or mental acts over and over to avoid feared outcomes...
Trauma
A traumatic experience is something so frightening or horrible, that it disrupts a person's thoughts and feelings for long after. Common traumatic experiences include things like a serious accident, a physical or sexual assault or abuse, a natural or man-made disaster, or having a loved one die or be seriously injured by homicide or suicide...
Suicidality & Self-Injury
It is not uncommon that people who experience unrelenting depression, anxiety, or trauma will, at some point, wish to die. Leading theories of suicide argue that pain, hopelessness, non-belonging, and feelings that one is a burden are the drivers of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Past suicide attempts and hospitalizations also can contribute to these drivers...
Relationship Difficulties
Although I only practice individual therapy, it is invariable that problems from depression, anxiety, or trauma are affected by, and affect, relationships with others. People may also feel detached or distant from themselves, their body, their physical surroundings, or their memories. Emotional outbursts, numbing, and avoidance of others all can make problems worse...
Sleep or Substance Problems
Sleep problems can be frustratingly stressful, and challenge our coping and problem-solving abilities...
Alcohol or other substances may give some symptom relief, but also may lead to harmful dependency...
